The primary responsibility of a faculty member in the Virginia Community College System shall be to provide quality instruction for the students. The major emphasis shall be on good teaching by working with students in classrooms, individual conferences, and related activities—to help the student develop their interests and abilities to their fullest capacity to become a better person, a better worker, and a better citizen.
Description of Duties and Tasks:
Incorporate teaching and learning strategies that have been demonstrated to promote student engagement, persistence and success. Advise students and participate in campus and college committees and other activities. Teaching responsibilities may include Introduction to Business (BUS 100), Entrepreneurship (BUS 116), Applied BUS Math (BUS 125), Small Business Management(BUS 165), Principles of Management (BUS 200), Organizational Behavior (BUS 201), Applied Management Principles (BUS 202), Project Management (BUS 204), Human Resource Management (BUS 205), Business Statistics (BUS 224), Business Law (BUS 241-42), Interpersonal Dynamics in Business Organizations (BUS 270), International Business (BUS 280), Personal Finance (FIN 107), Corporate Finance (FIN 215), Investments(FIN 108), Intro to Marketing (MKT 201), International Marketing (MKT 275).
Minimum Qualifications :
Master's degree in Business, Finance, or Marketing with a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in Business, Finance and/or Marketing coursework. A minimum of 2 years of experience, preferably occupational, related to the teaching field.
Doctorate's in Business, Finance, or Marketing with a minimum of 18 graduate credit hours in BUS/FIN/MKT. Three or more years' experience in private sector business, entrepreneurship, or a leadership position in an organization. Ability to teach Business Statistics, Business Law, International Business, and Project Management. Entrepreneurial experience. Three years of community college teaching experience. Experience developing BUS/MKT/FIN curriculum.
