This Business and Technology Applications Technician position is a support position on the Administrative Systems Development and Support team within Enterprise Information Systems (EIS) in ITCS. Primary responsibilities include providing security account management as the Banner Security Administrator, and secondary responsibilities include documentation, help desk ticket support, and some programming. The Banner Security Administrator receives requests approved through the Banner Security Application and processes the requests within Ellucian Banner. The Banner Security Administrator also processes terminations or changes in account access.
This support position will also provide documentation and support to the Administrative Systems Development and Support team, also known as the Banner team. The Technician will work to ensure documentation exists, and is up to date, for all tickets processed by the Banner Team. This position will possess the ability to write professional, clear, concise and complete applications and systems documentation for clients, programmers, and project managers. Development documentation should help aid in cross-training other developers and should clearly articulate the purpose of the system, components, configuration, and other necessary information. Complex software should be explained in a graphical format, such as screen shots, or video for ease of understanding. Produce comprehensive technical, user, and operational documentation written with various workstation and online tools.
The technician position will also be involved in programming work for non-critical requests in order to build up a skillset in development. This position will use a large variety of programming tools/technologies to write programs within a sophisticated, integrated network environment. The individual in this position will determine, develop, and document a logical flow of program instructions; code those instructions using a programming language; and include program documentation. New programming languages and tools must be learned as technical and application systems evolve.
In addition, this position helps maintain an inventory of applications and interfaces that the Banner team supports as well as other support tasks outside the scope of the duties above.
On occasion, employees adjust their standard work schedule to meet the requirements of their position, which includes and not limited to evening and weekend hours to perform scheduled and unscheduled workload requirements to maintain University operations.

Associate’s Degree in Computer Programming, or Bachelor’s degree with some computer related coursework from an appropriately accredited university; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

The Enterprise Information Systems (EIS) team is a major division of ITCS that develops, acquires, enhances, and supports administrative computer applications for the university. EIS works closely with central offices across campus, including numerous steering committees, to ensure administrative systems meet the needs of the university, and is responsible for the design, development, implementation, operation and enhancement of administrative computer applications for over 29,000 students and over 7,000 employees. Programming specialists, analysts, and technicians are assigned to subteams on the New Technology Development Group team, Document Imaging team, and the Administrative Systems Development and Support team. These teams support the university's needs for document imaging, the university web portal, and the ERP needs of administrative offices in the finance, human resource and payroll, student, and university advancement areas.
