The Middleton Lab studies the effects of environmental change on the behavioral, population, and community ecology of wide-ranging wildlife, with emphasis on the development of solutions to human-wildlife conflicts. The group works closely with agency, university, non-profit, and private partners to make sure they are asking the right questions and making the best research contributions they can. They also work with photographers, artists, storytellers and others to communicate about science and conservation to the public. Their work is motivated by a global need for science and conservation solutions that promote both ecological integrity and human wellbeing, especially in working landscapes.
•Provide day-to-day management of activities within the lab, including but not limited to: ordering supplies, collecting time sheets, and prepping requests to submit to Research Administration, Finance, and HR. In conjunction with the PI, participates in the development and revision of standard operating procedures for both the campus lab and field research projects.
•Coordination of scientific meetings and workshops that stimulate the discussion and integration of different stakeholders involved in the project.
•Project reporting; ensuring that all documents required by program sponsors are prepared in accordance with established deadlines and assesses and recommends changes.
•Budget management, researching financial discrepancies, and monitoring project expenditures.
•General project management including monitoring of project progress, resource allocations, staffing levels, milestone performance, and work plans as well as maintaining lab website.
•Identify and help prepare grant proposals helping to asses and recommend changes to maintain compliance with federal and state requirements and internal policies.
