The TV/Radio Technician is a part-time hourly non-benefitted position. The technician works with the Director of the Digital Media Arts Center and the Coordinator of Television Production to provide television, radio, and multimedia technical and instructional support to the faculty, staff, and students of Massasoit Community College. The TV/Radio Technician will work directly with students in the Media Arts Program, Media Axis Club, Radio Club, and all other classes utilizing the studio and lab. The technician will also assist and train students in creating, editing, and delivering educational, informational, and entertainment content for courses, cable TV, streaming, community service, and college promotion.
Must have at least 1.5 years of experience in a multimedia production environment, (including TV studio, radio studio, cable TV, content creation environments) and be familiar with the technical and production processes used in a digital multimedia SD and HD production facility.
Must have strong communication and interpersonal skills, be able to teach effectively, and communicate technical concepts in a simple and clear way.
Must be familiar with the following tools of production and be able to operate them with a high degree of proficiency: audio boards, video switchers, non-linear editors, audio/music production software, Mac OS X and Windows PC computers, microphones, studio and control room equipment, lights, sound equipment, field camera setup and operation, tripods, monitors, basic server operation, basic network connection operation.
Must be able to understand the following terms and concepts of their use: primary colors of light, 3-Point lighting, microphone pickup patterns, studio production, field production (EFP & ENG), Streaming Media content creation and management, DVD/Blu-Ray production/duplication, character generator, NLE, network based data storage and management.
Must be able to (with a high degree of efficiency) read and write English on paper and a computer screen/display, operate a qwerty keyboard and mouse, use basic hand tools, adjust buttons and knobs, climb a ladder, work above your head for short periods of time, lift and carry at least 20 pounds of weight, initiate and respond to audible and visual commands and cues.
Hourly Rate: $13.50 an hour, Part Time, Non-Benefited
Hours: 18 hours per week
