The Research Foundation for the State University of New York (SUNY), the nation’s largest and most comprehensive system of public higher education, invites applications for the position of Project Manager for the SUNY-Venezuela University Engagement Initiative of the Center for Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL Center). The COIL Center is a leader in the emerging field of collaborative online international learning and virtual exchange, which fosters collaborative, project-based learning and exchange between faculty and students with peers around the world using online tools.
The Project Manager will be responsible for providing oversight of the SUNY-Venezuela University Engagement Initiative, a project supported by a U.S. State Department innovation grant. Duties include facilitating professional development through online and in person workshops, providing support for faculty and staff as they construct collaborative online international learning courses, supporting policy development aimed at increasing international collaborations, and monitoring individual and program level progress towards desired outcomes. Additionally, this position will be responsible for developing and supporting faculty and institutional partnerships between members of the COIL Center’s network of campuses at SUNY and partner institutions in Venezuela. This is an 18 month, grant funded position.
Reporting to the Executive Director of the SUNY COIL Center, responsibilities will include:
Providing administrative and pedagogical support for the SUNY-Venezuela University Engagement Initiative
Facilitating partnership building between faculty and institutions in Venezuela and SUNY
Leading professional development workshops online and in person for participating faculty and staff
Creating outreach and informational documents, reports, presentations and media related to the project
Providing instructional design and process support for faculty and staff as they develop COIL-enhanced courses
Contributing to the development of outcomes-based assessment criteria for COIL-enhanced courses/programs
Ongoing project management with SUNY COIL and Global Partner Campus Coordinators and other institutional stakeholders
Developing workshops and related training to help participating Venezuelan Universities engage their alumni in the diaspora to support Venezuelan higher education
Contributing to ongoing and new COIL Center initiatives as appropriate
Required Qualifications: Master’s Degree with five or more years of experience working in higher educational delivery. Fluency in both Spanish and English. Experience using instructional design concepts and online learning management systems in an educational context. Familiarity with COIL/Virtual Exchange. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills. Ability to prioritize and show initiative. Demonstrates a creative and collaborative approach to their work and an ability to work with diverse audiences. Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as assigned. Candidate must be eligible to work in the U.S.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience facilitating cross-cultural experiences. Understanding of Intercultural Communicative Competencies. Experience developing learning outcomes in international education.
