Poly Prep seeks applicants for the position of Director of Advancement Communications. This role will help communicate the School’s advancement messaging. The Director of Advancement Communications will focus on fundraising engagement strategies with a variety of constituency groups. This role will convey key marketing initiatives, targeted communications, brand management, and the execution of campaigns as it all relates to fundraising and alumni relations.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
Create and deliver strategic advancement messaging by engaging and activating our community through multi-platform communications to bring the portions of the Poly story to life as they relate to advancement initiatives.
This role will oversee project management, as well as oversight of content, design, production, and distribution of print and digital pieces as they relate to Advancement (i.e.: annual giving, capital campaigns, major gift appeals, alumni relations communications).
Create and oversee the execution of targeted campaign strategies to support key Advancement goals and Advancement events when needed. Ensure that the themed messaging is consistent and present throughout all media communications. (i.e.: Annual Giving/Annual Gratitude or Powered by Annual Giving or Powered by the Parents’ Association.)
Create and execute an annual operational plan with goals, strategies, tactics, and key performance indicators. Identify growth opportunities to increase brand awareness and engagement for Advancement.
Co-ordinate with members of the Communications team in the following areas:
Poly publications regarding all advancement messaging.
Update (annually and as needed) the website pages for Advancement, Annual Giving, Alumni, Parents’ Association, and Advancement Events (i.e.: Tower, Special Reunion, Homecoming, Alumni Regionals, Fundraisers, etc.)
Alumni profiles and stories (interview alumni and provide content)
Digital communications as it relates to Advancement (including social media:
LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram, Facebook in real time)
Graphic Design needs (i.e.: photos, print, video, web). Provide options that are well developed in order to make decision pertaining to the request.
Photographic and video coverage for events both on and off-site. In addition to Advancement events, obtain coverage for events that can be used to help us ‘tell the Poly story’ (i.e.: publicize events externally and internally for better public relations with all constituents.
Manage student interns as they relate to Advancement projects.
Education: A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree is required.
Experience: 10 years’ experience in marketing and communications. Advancement and/or independent school experience is preferred.
Specific Skills: Project management and organizational skills. Strong writing and journalistic skills (i.e.: detail oriented, proofreading skills, grasp of grammar, punctuation and ability to exhibit a consistent style). Adept in thriving in a fast-paced environment and the ability to prioritize projects. Embody a high-touch customer service attitude.
Special Requirements: Required to attend advancement functions as needed, during the evening and/or on weekends.
