PRIMARY FUNCTION: To plan, develop and implement educational and training programs to promote continuous learning in healthcare quality and safety to support Christiana Care's focus on excellence.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Plans, organizes, and leads system-wide educational services related to quality and patient safety for members of the Christiana Care Health System caregivers including, but not limited to the following System-wide education / training programs:
Continuous Performance Improvement
Team Training / Communication Skills
Resident education related to quality and safety
Researches, recommends and develops course materials including but not limited to instructional tools, audio-visual materials, exercises and tests for educational/training initiatives.
Collaborates with staff from Human Resources, iLEAD and other educational staff throughout the system to integrate quality and safety training in other educational offerings as appropriate.
Prepares communications to publicize available educational resources.
Develops train-the-trainer programs to support organizational learning in healthcare quality and safety.
Evaluates the effectiveness of course facilitation, content, and materials for learners through pilot programs and course evaluations. Makes revisions to improve and update content and materials as needed.
Develops and conducts System-wide education and development needs surveys of key customers and stakeholders. Recommends specific actions to address high priority needs; implements approved actions.
Directs development of orientation programs, ongoing training and education for new and existing staff.
Establishes performance measures and monitors performance results and takes action to improve culture and teamwork.
Collaborates with all other Christiana Care educators to optimize learning and sharing of knowledge.
Performs assigned work safely, adhering to established departmental safety rules and practices.
Reports to the appropriate personnel, in a timely fashion, any unsafe activities, hazards, or safety violations that may cause injury to oneself, other employees, patients and visitors.
Performs other related duties as directed.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Master's degree in Nursing or healthcare related field required.
Education and or experience in one or more of the following are preferred: project management, management and analysis of performance improvement data, performance improvement methodologies and certification in National Association for Healthcare Quality.
Supervisory and leadership experience preferred.
