FINANCIAL ASSISTANT I , Center for Transportation & Logistics (CTL) , to perform a variety of financial duties. Will reconcile all CTL and SCM (Supply Chain Management) accounting statements, monitor expenses for compliance with sponsor guidelines, and report discrepancies; review and certify purchase transactions on MIT procurement credit cards; request special permission for exception purchases on MIT's ProCard, storing responses for access during future audits; electronically process and track travel reports, manage delinquent travel reports and follow up with travelers to assure that overdue travel reports are submitted, and assist travelers who need help with Concur; process journal vouchers; process telephone orders and change orders for office or cell phones; serve as main contact for facility orders and requests; process orders for equipment and furniture; assist administrative officer with space change activities; maintain filing systems and digital financial files; research and gather financial information for projects; hand deliver and pick up docs on campus; update procedures for own area; and assist financial staff and perform other duties as needed.
REQUIRED : at least two years of basic financial accounting, office, or related experience; proven competency using Microsoft Word and Excel and ability to rapidly learn in-house developed applications; excellent organizational, interpersonal, and written and verbal communication skills; good judgment and discretion with confidential information; desire to interact with and assist students, faculty, administrators, and visitors from culturally and professionally diverse backgrounds; and ability to work independently and as part of a team and to function efficiently despite frequent interruptions. Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, or finance preferred. Familiarity with MIT, Concur, and SAP a plus. May work additional hours during peak periods. Job #16848-4
