Data Analyst/Statistical Analyst â Contract Role
This is a contract role with Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) and supports a large project with the Vanderbilt Institute for Clinical and Translational Research (VICTR). Contract duration is projected to be 6-12 months.
VICTR Curation Data Analyst/Statistical Analyst
In your pivotal role as Data Analyst, you will work with curation co-chairs and project leads and will partner with the data quality teams to provide data quality and analytics expertise for both EHR and new data types. You will will work hands-on with partners at HPOs as well as new data product teams across the Consortium to assess data quality and provide guidance and support for data quality improvements.
Additionally, you will:
- Assist with ad hoc reporting of data quality
-Support data quality benchmark reporting for baseline and new data types
-Collaborate with project leads, PMâs and engineering teams to develop quality assurance methodologies and conduct quality assurance tests on baseline and new data types
-Assist with the development of operational reports and dashboards
-Identify areas where data quality improvements are needed
Â· Statistical/Data Analysis â Possesses sufficient fundamental proficiency to successfully apply statistical/data analyticsâ concepts in practical applications of moderate difficulty.
Â· Data Mining â Has demonstrated an understanding of analysis methods, design concepts, data organization, business models, capabilities and limitations.
Â· Data Modeling
o Possesses sufficient proficiency to successfully demonstrate the skill data modeling in applications of moderate difficulty.
o Knows how to integrate data modeling into an overall systems development methodology [SDM].
o Is familiar with logical business data modeling using some of the prominent structured and object-oriented modeling methods.
o Knows the fundamental principles of conceptual data modeling using the leading Entity/Relationship Diagramming [ERD] methods.
Â· Metadata Analysis
o Possesses sufficient fundamental proficiency to successfully demonstrate the skill in practical data analysis applications of moderate difficulty.
o Navigates within established technology environments to locate, validate, extract, and format data for data analysis.
o Able to modify and run queries and standard reports from data tools and provide to users.
o Can identify data values and data sources.
o Is familiar with data modeling.
o Is able to interview business customers to elicit data requirements and understand the relationships between data items.
Â· Provides support to leadership, team members and customers through data science, project management and communications.
o Brings structure to large quantities of formless data and makes analysis possible.
o Identifies rich data sources, joins them with other, potentially incomplete data sources, and cleans the resulting set.
o Finds a story within a data set and provide a coherent narrative about a key data insight, and advises leadership on implications of the data for products, processes and decisions.
o Demonstrates mastery of Project Communications in practical applications of a difficult nature.
o Effectively communicates technical and business ideas and information to others, including non-technical audiences in writing, with numbers, verbally and/or visually.
o Shares knowledge, ideas and information openly, and effectively sells new ideas and influences others.
o Possesses sufficient knowledge, training, and experience to be capable of successfully delivering Project Communications without requiring support and instruction from others.
o Provides guidance and leadership support to team members.

In collaboration with the VUMC Human Research Protections Program (HRPP), the Translational Research Navigator II assists with the optimal application of the Federal, State, and local laws, guidance documents, VUMC Institutional policies, and Institutional Review Board (IRB) policies and procedures while meeting the objectives of the VUMC research community. Consults on complex research and regulatory issues in conjunction with the team(s) to identify solutions and develop improvement processes. The TRN II researches topics of departmental, institutional or strategic importance.
