HealthPartners has an exciting opportunity for a Clinical Pharmacist-Formulary Manager. This role will provide leadership, oversight and collaboration with care group leaders for the safe, effective, appropriate and strategic use of medications to support the Triple Aim of quality, experience and affordability. This position will guide safe medication management and policy through a system wide formulary and medication use standardization. In addition, it is critical for this position to lead the ongoing strategic planning, coordination and communication for new drugs entering the market and other developing trends which will impact cost and quality of care. This position will work collaboratively with clinicians, pharmacists and leaders from our system of seven hospitals in a very dynamic environment of change.

Leads and coordinates the development of a standardized Care Group Formulary
Manages and coordinates Care Group P&T Committee in the role as Secretary of the P&T, and coordinates subcommittees to ensure adequate and appropriate representation and participation of stakeholders
Manages requests submitted for formulary consideration, agenda development, minutes, and communications of changes necessary to stakeholder parties
Prepares and presents new drug reviews and therapeutic class reviews for the Care Group P&T Committee
Has long-term vision of formulary project management and able to balance a portfolio of ongoing initiatives
Analyzes and evaluates the medication use trends and makes recommendation to the Care Group P&T regarding changes to the formulary
Provides drug use and outcomes data analytics
Develops drug literature reviews and white papers
Collaborates with medical leadership, specialty departments, pharmacy leaders and other stakeholders for establishing standardized drug use policies and protocols
Effectively project manages all aspects of drug use evaluation, formulary implementation, and communication of changes
Provides direction and develops strategies to improve medication use to support the triple aim
Participates and actively leads programs to manage pharmacy and total cost of care trends and makes recommendations for change as necessary
Works directly with Clinical Pharmacists, Pharmacy Operations and the system Order Set Committee to ensure medications are included in appropriate order sets to improve quality of care
Accountable to the Vice President of Pharmacy Operations, Directors of Pharmacy and the P&T Committee for oversite of drug formulary and drug utilization process
Participates as a preceptor for pharmacy residents on formulary rotations and residency projects as assigned
Performs other duties as assigned
Graduate ACPE accredited college of pharmacy. Advanced degree preferred (MS or PharmD)
Active licensure in the State of Minnesota as a pharmacist
Five (5) years of clinical pharmacy experience in hospital practice or equivalent
Previous experience with formulary management and P&T Committee involvement
Two (2) years of leadership experience
Ability to prioritize, strong critical thinking skills and strong decision making abilities
Strong oral and written communication skills
Ability to work with all levels in the organization
Project management skills
Data analytics skills
Ability to drive to multiple locations, current, unrestricted driver’s license required
PGY1 residency (or equivalent experience)
Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialists or other equivalent certification
