Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution is currently searching for a Business Analyst to join the Information Services Department. This is a full-time, regular, exempt position and is eligible for benefits.
Reporting to the Director of Business Systems, the Business Analyst will work primarily with internal General and Administrative (Finance, Procurement, Property, etc.) customers to support business applications. He/she will identify requirements, assist in the development of practical solutions, and troubleshoot problems while working in collaboration with customers and fellow Information System associates. Serving as main point of contact for on-going ERP and other business application support to community.
Partner with internal business department subject matter experts to gain first-hand knowledge through interview, workflow analysis and/or existing systems documentation/procedure to define and document user business requirements and from those requirements define system functional specifications.
Lead and / or participate in implementation and configuration of new systems or enhancements in addition to providing on-going support and upgrades to implemented systems.
Create and execute test documentation, issue identification and resolution based on defined requirements and conduct user acceptance testing.
Plan, prioritize and propose system or process solutions to address issues and improve efficiencies while working on multiple projects simultaneously.
Serve as main point of contact and provide on-going and continued system/technical support to users, including report writing and troubleshooting, end user documentation, training and security.
Coordinate with other internal IT functions as appropriate to assure proper system integration.
Performs such other duties as the supervisor may deem necessary.
DESIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
3-5 years of experience implementing and supporting ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) and other business systems required; Financial and procurement systems experience preferred.
Knowledge of software development/deployment lifecycle - analyze, design, build, test, implement, and support.
Experience with report writing tools and data warehouse concepts
Process-driven analysis skills and in-depth knowledge of business and system processes.
Flexibility and willingness to undertake a wide variety of challenging tasks.
Ability to work independently and within a team with minimal supervision.
Excellent communication, project management and documentation skills.
Extensive hands-on experience with Microsoft Office (including Visio).
