Advertised Summary Job Description: The Assistant Vice President of Capital Project Management is seeking a highly skilled individual to work as the Director for Capital Project Management. The selected individual will report to the Assistant Vice President and will have four primary responsibilities: 1) To work with senior administrators to establish and implement institutional capital priorities; 2) To act as a Program Manager to supervise and coordinate a select grouping of high profile capital projects; 3) To have direct supervisory responsibilities over internal project management staff; 4) To manage high-end major capital initiatives.
General Minimum Qualifications: The position requires a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in education and experience, plus ten (10) years of related experience or Master's degree with seven (7) years of directly related experience in the management of design and construction projects.
Additional Specific Minimum Qualifications: A Degree in Architecture, Engineering or Construction Management is required, in addition to professional training in project scheduling and business software applications.
The selected individual should have direct supervisory experience with renovation projects in excess of $10 million and experience with new building construction.
This individual must be able to interact with senior level administrators and have proven experience in directing a complex team of professional consultants (architects, engineers, commissioning agents, cost estimators, construction managers, lawyers, etc), facilities team members, and numerous client groups.
Preferred Qualifications: -Management Training or professional development courses in Management, preferred. -Professional licensure in Architecture (R.A.) or Engineering (P.E.) is preferred. -Customer service oriented -Ability to manage complex and highly confidential information -Excellent social skills, able to operate with diplomacy, tact and empathy -Ability to think proactively and laterally to maximize opportunities to promote the work of the organization -Comfortable when working to tight deadlines, and able to turn work around within a short time span where demands are liable to change at short notice -At least 10 years of previous experience managing a team, highly preferred -Previous experience managing capital projects in higher educational institutions, research labs, urban medical centers, and general facilities operations, highly preferred
