The new position of Director of Communications will serve as a senior strategist and hands-on leader who will create and implement a modern communications operation to raise the visibility of the research enterprise.
The Director will build and manage a team of communications professionals and work with the existing network of communications professionals. Located within the Office of the Senior Vice Chancellor for Research (OSVCR), the Director will work with senior leaders in the OSVCR to drive office-wide communications efforts, and ensure the coordinated, timely and effective flow of research information across multiple communications channels and platforms — within the office, across the university, and externally. The Director will provide hands-on project management related to the communications needs and create and implement a suite of new tools, services, and resources that help the senior team with the office, as well as researchers across campus to communicate more effectively. The incumbent will work closely with the Chief of Staff and senior staff to shape key communications planning and consistent messaging across channels.
