Boys & Girls Clubs of Chicago (BGCC) is seeking an experienced fundraiser and event planner to serve as the Manager of Resource Development. This position reports to the Vice President of External Affairs and is responsible for event fundraising strategy and solicitations, and conceptualization and execution of BGCC’s premier events. The Director of Resource Development works collaboratively with external donor constituencies and BGCC External Affairs and program staff.
KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities):
Develop, execute and oversee a strategy to create donor events and experiences that cultivate and facilitate donor pipeline growth and membership conversion efforts.
Oversee planning, logistics and fundraising for special events; responsible for achievement of revenue goals.
Manage the Senior Coordinator of Events and department interns, as necessary.
Manage a portfolio of event donors, both corporate and individual, and develop strategies to engage them and grow their support of BGCC.
Partner in management and communication with BGCC’s high profile auxiliary boards.
Facilitate board meetings for different constituent groups.
Develop relationships and employ best practices to engage auxiliary boards and deepen their relationship with BGCC.
Develop stewardship plans for event sponsors, donors and attendees. Work with the Manager of Communications and Marketing to develop appropriate follow up communications.
Execute vendor contracts, manage event expenditures within a budget and maintain accurate donation records, both in tracking sheets and in the organization donor database, Raiser’s Edge. Ensure event donors are appropriately thanked for support.
Responsible for sponsorship fulfillment and reporting.
Work with the Manager of Communications and Marketing to create event collateral and to produce events (scripting, effective delivery of message) that connect donors and prospective donors with the mission.
Evaluate events with an eye to return on investment and donor engagement; capture best practices for continuous improvement of events and event fundraising mechanisms.
Demonstrate creativity in putting together engaging events and lead the discussion to continually ensure events are updated and fresh.
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university required
A minimum of five years nonprofit experience, specifically in fundraising, sales/marketing, events or equivalent experience
Exceptional project management and strong customer service skills
Ability to handle shifting activities and multiple tasks simultaneously
Meticulous attention to detail and strong work ethic
Strong oral and written communication skills and ability to interact in a firm but highly collaborative fashion
Solutions-oriented, creative problem solver
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
Knowledge of: the mission, objectives, policies, programs and procedures and of the principles and practices of nonprofits, youth development services preferred
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with Club staff, board members, volunteers, community groups and other related agencies
Knowledge of accessing and managing donor database
