The Polsky Fab Lab internship is intended to introduce the process of digital fabrication for prototyping physical products, and to help the intern connect with the larger Chicago making and fabrication community. The internship will be 19 hours per week for six months (January through June 2019). The internship may involve some evening and Saturday hours.
Assist with the daily operations of the Fab Lab
Work with Polsky Exchange members to understand their prototyping needs and mentor them through the design process
Assist with and teach user training classes and demonstration
Strong interest in digital fabrication and prototyping
Excellent in-person and written communication and presentation skills
Strong curiosity and creativity; eagerness to learn by doing and learn from failure
Attention to detail, strong initiative, professional demeanor
Eagerness to participate in Polsky Exchange workshops and community
Curiosity about startups and entrepreneurships
Create work using Fab Lab equipment to provide examples of process and results
Attend Polsky and ecosystem events
CAD Skills preferred
