Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory (CSHL), located on Long Island, New York, is a private, not-for-profit research and education institution at the forefront of molecular biology and genetics. We are currently searching for a Business Systems Manager to join our Information Technology department. The ideal candidate will manage the deployment, maintenance, support and upgrade of business systems. In addition, the Manager will interact with all departments to identify and implement business systems initiatives, schedules, and document changes. Additional Responsibilities: - Effectively manage departmental resources, and staff, to complete tasks in a timely manner. - Manage, delegate, coach and train a staff of business systems analysts and business system administrators. - Create and maintain procedural documentation for the group, and assists in the creation of and adherence to IT policy. - Conduct periodic user meetings with departments and laboratory to gather and assess their business systems needs as well as informing them of significant changes. - Develop a yearly budget for the Business Systems group. - Oversee all upgrades and change management for the business systems. - Write proposals and work with vendors for the most advantageous quotes for projects. - Stay current with changes in the industry, and their ramifications to the organization. - Perform additional IT related tasks, as assigned by Director and Administration.
Education Requirements: - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Business. - A degree or certificate in Computer Science.
EXPERIENCE & SKILLS: - Previous experience in a Lawson/Infor enterprise environment. - More than seven years, combined, of previous business and IT experience. - More than three years in a management position within IT. - Strong interpersonal and communications skills - Familiarity with relational database concepts, and client-server concepts. - Capable of writing proposals or papers - Ability to act as a vender liaison - Ability to make presentations to organizational business units or professional peers - Ability to work closely with upper management - Ability to solve problems quickly and automate processes - Strong project management and resource management skills - Extensive experience in the areas of ERP, BI, HR, procurement, data warehousing. - Proven management skills - Able to adapt and influence in a rapidly changing environment, and possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
