This department head position is responsible for implementing all equipment needed for the execution of sound and video designs for all Court Theatre productions. Regular evening/weekend hours will be required.
Collaborate closely with visiting Sound Designers, Music Directors, and Video to ensure that designs are executed in accordance with the artistic goals of the production.
Analyze all sound and video equipment plots with regard to cost and feasibility.
Contribute ideas and viewpoints to the Production Manager on the schedule, scale, and feasibility of sound and video elements during the planning and design process. Engineer creative solutions to design challenges within the constraints of time, resources, and physics.
Determine appropriate equipment necessary to execute sound and video designs. Purchase or rent equipment and consumables as needed.
Oversee all sound and video elements throughout the lifespan of a production from rehearsals, load-ins and outs, technical rehearsals, and performances.
Supervise overhire labor as needed to execute the above tasks.
Create and maintain accurate system paperwork.
Run sound cues and mix live sound for all technical rehearsals and performances (typically 8 shows per week, 5 shows per season).
Provide technical support for a small number of ancillary events each season.
Attend production meetings and staff meetings as requested by Production Manager.
Collaborate with other technical departments to ensure smooth workflow for all departments.
Oversee the day-to-day operation of the Sound and Video department.
Maintain house sound equipment including backstage monitors and assisted listening system.
Supervise storage, inventory and maintenance of all sound and video equipment and related tools and supplies.
Exercise responsibility and accountability for the sound departmentâ™s labor and materials budgets.
Maintain all sound file sand documentation, ensuring that records of all productions are archived and easily accessible.
Cultivate excellent relationships with industry vendors and sound designers.
Maintain a clean and safe work space at all times.
With Production Manager, plan and supervise the maintenance, repair, purchase and upgrade of facilities and equipment for the sound and video department.
Maintain accurate inventories of sound and video equipment. Track lifespan of equipment and, with Production Manager, plan for replacements and upgrades.

Education, Experience, or Certifications:
High school diploma or equivalent, required
At least two yearsâ™ experience in theatrical sound in a professional theatre environment.
Licenses and Certifications:
Valid driverâ™s license and clean driving record
Technical Knowledge or Skills:
Experience mixing live musicals
Knowledge of, or demonstrated interest in, theatrical video and projection technologies.
Experience with digital and analog audio equipment (maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting), current wireless technologies, and all industry standards and manufacturers.
Strong technical knowledge around audio circuits including the ability to solder and repair, electrical knowledge, and load capacities.
Experiencing maintaining Clear-Com products, analog and digital intercom systems.
Experience with sound and video performance software including Qlab, Yamaha QL5, Dante Networking. Experience with Watching and Isadora desirable.
Ability to read technical drawings and ground plans.
Knowledge of theatrical rigging.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:
Able to lift, push, pull or otherwise maneuver up to 50lbs repeatedly
Able to sit, stand, or walk for long periods of time
Able to work in dusty or noisy environments
Able to work comfortably at heights such as grid, catwalk, ladders and lifts
Able to safely operate a motor vehicle
Available to work evenings and weekends on a regular basis
