The Director of Branch Network Engineering provides strategic direction and leadership in research, evaluation, engineering design and delivery of branch networking solutions to all MetLife offices across 40+ countries. He/she will be responsible for the vision, strategy, roadmaps, and their execution to meet business objectives, and support MetLife’s digital transformation. This position requires broad and deep technical knowledge in networking as well as general managerial capabilities, preferable with Global experience.
•Primarily accountable in the development of strategies and direction for US and global branch network solutions using current and emerging technologies. •Provide direction to branch network design, engineering, and continuous improvement. •Ensures technical and corporate compliance of the enterprise-wide branch network design and architecture. •Engages in telecom carrier negotiation, and vendor selection for global branch network solutions. Provides clear, articulate business case analysis for new projects or ideas with a solid understanding of financial principles. •Recruits, administers, directs, motivates and develops key staff, maximizing their individual contribution, their professional growth and their ability to function effectively with their colleagues as a team. •Foster innovation, team cohesiveness, and open collaboration.
Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:
•10+ years of related work experience with Wide Area Networking, Cloud environments in Global Enterprise setting. •5+ years of related work experience and broad knowledge on network routing & Switching platforms and solutions, including Cisco, Juniper, WAN Acceleration, Encryption, Optical, SD-WAN. •3+ years of related work experience with automation, orchestration, and general programmability around IT infrastructure technologies. •Excellent oral and written communication proficiency including presentations to senior management, strong influencing skills with demonstrated ability to present and communicate concisely and clearly with all levels of financial, non-financial, technical and executive audiences.
•Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related discipline; Master’s / MBA added bonus •Experience in organizational change management. •Background working closely with Procurement/Vendor Management teams on purchases and acquisitions •Skills in network resiliency strategy and design. •Experience in infrastructure solution development around Analytics, Software Defined, Security, and Big Data. •Knowledge/experience in methodologies around SAFE, Agile, DevOps and Continuous Integration.
