Full-time, temporary position of up to 18 months – Hamilton, ON
Leverage your multi-faceted project management experience, and your expertise in streetlighting and electrical engineering, in this leadership role with system-wide impact at the City of Hamilton.
Reporting to the Senior Project Manager, you will investigate, and report on, existing local and system-wide operational conditions, as well as develop policies and procedures for improved operations, stewardship and accountability, risk management and financial efficiency. Your track record of success in this field will have equipped you to prepare and recommend detailed plans for such projects as the upgrading of streetlighting infrastructure such as poles, wiring and cascading systems, organize safety audits of existing infrastructure, as well as inspect drawings and finished streetlighting electrical installations.
Your qualifications as Project Manager, Street Lighting Engineering, include:
•Proven knowledge of streetlighting and electrical engineering practices and theories normally acquired by successfully completing a relevant university degree in electrical engineering and proven relevant work experience, or by successfully completing a relevant engineering technologist diploma from a recognized community college plus progressive relevant work experience.
•Extensive practical experience in streetlighting engineering, lighting design, management, construction and tender preparation with an engineering consultant firm or another municipality.
•Experience in the application of illumination and electrical theory and practice as it relates to streetlighting systems, control equipment, cabling/communications systems and energy savings equipment/programs.
•Demonstrated project management experience in managing large, complex, multi-faceted projects and applications.
•Membership in and/or eligibility for certification with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO), the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists (OACETT) and/or the Illuminating Engineering Society (IES), an asset.
•IMSA Roadway Lighting Certificate, preferred.
NOTE: Must possess and maintain a Class "G" Driver's Licence valid in the Province of Ontario and a point-free driving record and/or record found to be satisfactory to the City of Hamilton. This position requires a personal vehicle for use on the job.
This CUPE Local 1041 Supv full-time, temporary position offers a salary range of $43.107 to $47.897 per hour (based on a 35-hour work week schedule). Hamilton. A city of progress.
