The candidate would primarily be responsible assisting the coordinating Unit Investment Trust (UIT) origination and due diligence process across several internal and external parties. The role requires analytical work, asset manager relationship management, live deal support, management reporting, FA support, marketing and sales skills and some ad hoc reporting and administrative tasks. The role may also include responsibilities relating to the development and improvement of business group processes and technology.
Specific responsibilities consist of: - Determining the validity of investment concept and marketability of a new proposed fund based on BAML Research connectivity, FA and client desire, overall suitability, merits of the implementation strategy, market conditions and ability to raise assets - Performing diligence on offerings, meeting with PM team, comparing and contrasting with competing issuers products and preparing write-up on pertinent findings for presentation to committee. - Initiating process for UIT set up and establishment on system. Insuring process moves smoothly through multiple internal and external counterparts. - Provide product expertise and assistance in all matters related to UITs for FAs. Includes product implementation, high level tax consequences, rollover support, order entry support, portfolio review and problem solving. - Preparing presentation materials for and presenting the UIT platform and individual offerings at multiple functions and conference calls including AES, office and complex conferences, national due diligence meetings and various educational and support meetings. - Working with internal counsel, compliance, and RP for creation and distribution of various marketing materials, including Fact Cards, FA brochures, newsletters and educational pieces -- Working closely with the issuer to create and launch new UITs in line with or licensed by BAML Research. Ensure all risks are reviewed for the firm including reputational risk a joint partnership would present - Monitoring the overall UIT market in order to provide market color to management, advisors and other relationships across the firm - Work closely with Issuer partners to identify opportunities for greater partnership, increased sales and new innovative products. - Provide wholesaler support to issuer partners including direction, office interaction and opportunity identification - Partnering with groups across BAML including Global Corporate & Investment Banking, Prime Brokerage, Global Capital Markets, and Alternative Investments to deliver the firm holistically to key asset manager relationships
Bachelor's degree in related field
5+ years of experience in a related financial services product role such as mutual funds, closed-end funds or unit investment trusts
Exposure to different asset classes at a high level, to have an understanding of differences between corporate bonds, municipal bonds, asset backed securities and equities,
Required registrations include Series 7 & 63/66.
Strong project management skill required. Able to prioritize and deal with shifting deliverables and deadlines,
Able to work with groups as well as individually. Strong interpersonal skills required.
Good verbal & written communication skills
Prior experience working with Microsoft Office (primarily Excel, PowerPoint and Word) and Bloomberg.
Investment product knowledge and client facing experience are required
