Firefly Fiber Broadband, a Subsidiary of CVEC (Central Virginia Electric Cooperative), is looking for a qualified Fiber Plant Expansion Manager to join our team as we build a "world class" gigabit FTTH network within the CVEC service territory and adjoining areas outside the territory. Reporting to the Firefly Fiber Broadband General Manager, the Fiber Plant Expansion Manager will serve as the leader for the fiber construction outside of the CVEC (Central Virginia Electric Cooperative) electric service territory "off system"
The ideal candidate must have experience working with and understanding fiber outside plant construction methods and processes, GPON fiber network topology, construction maps, ROW and permit processes, and ESRI GIS systems. They must also have at least 5 years of SME or supervisory experience with Field Operations, Fiber Construction, Dispatch, Billing, Technical Support, Project Management, Outside Plant or ISP Operations.
Key Responsibilities Include: Managing the fiber construction outside of CVEC electric service territory "Off System",including but not limited to: procuring necessary easements, pole attachment agreements, fiber network design, and fiber construction; keeping projects on schedule, meeting performance metrics, and within budget. Ensuring that CVSI meets annual goals for off system builds and is responsive to opportunities for expansion. Performing all necessary fiber workforce and logistics tasks such as: Updating the drop portal, CPE forecasting / procurement / inventory / warehousing functions, mapping and GIS information database, department safety and KPI reports, Miss Utility locate tickets for U/G drops, GLDS WinForce Tech Module.
This position is also supports the Fiber Operations Manage and Customer Experience Manager in providing a superior customer experience with fiber installation & repair services, and with complaint resolution on fiber drop construction, easements, ROW or related field issues. In addition, the Fiber Plant Expansion Manager assists with the Field Safety Program, federal and state compliance, and training programs such as Light Brigade fiber installation, Calix GPON, Momentum and vendor skills certification and training.
Position Requirements Include:
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a related technical field required. Technical Certifications preferred.
Minimum of 5 years of SME or supervisory experience with Field Operations, Fiber Construction, Dispatch, Billing, Technical Support, Project Management, Outside Plant, or ISP operations.
The successful applicant must be able to plan and organize work to meet deadlines. Work is varied and requires a high degree of accuracy with attention to detail. Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities are essential. Working as a team player and leadership ability is a significant function of this position. Interpersonal skills with staff, customers, contractors, and the general public are required.
Must have general PC abilities including Microsoft Office and tablet operating skills. Must be able to operate and navigate electronic maps. GIS experience is preferred for this position.
Annual Salary Range: $96,000 - $115,000 Based upon qualifications and experience.
