Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking an Application Developer (AD) for the Rutgers University Foundation. This position provides complex programming for implementing computer applications for Alumni Relations and Rutgers University Foundation (RUF). The AD plays a leadership role in the gathering of requirements for the analysis, design, development and implementation of information systems. This position works independently with end-users on longer term projects and coordinates implementation schedules.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Writes complex structured program code to meet the specifications of the client for computer application systems.
Assumes project management and application administrative responsibilities.
Oversees the analysis of data base design and program layout and organization for application systems.
Develops data and business models and logic flowcharts and analyzes program requirements to determine the programming language, utilities, software and application configuration best suited for the system.
Identifies and recommends solutions to problems and maintains program source modules and libraries for alumni and fundraising systems.
Works closely with IT management and third party vendors on design issues, complex problems and in integrating software design into the overall system architecture.
Manages project plans, timelines and resources for longer-term and more complex projects.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Requires a bachelor's degree, in computer science, engineering; or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
A minimum of three years' experience in application and/or web programming.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Requires excellent analytical, research, problem solving, and organizational skills.
Excellent written and oral communication skills and the desire to work in a collaborative, cross-functional team environment.
Ability to take charge, gain support and commitment, initiate actions and make logical decisions.
Experience in ASP.NET, Crystal Reports, Microsoft SharePoint, Oracle PL/SQL, SQL Server, SQL Server Reporting Services, Salesforce, Tableau and HTML is preferred.
Four (4) to five (5) years' experience in application and/or web programming.
