The Assistant Director will assume responsibility for a wide range of programmatic and administrative functions of the Institute, including:
Operations: Responsible for overall management of Cambridge and Delhi Office administrative operations, including developing and implementing office policies, procedures and systems for Cambridge office and, in conjunction with Harvard Global and Delhi Executive Director, for LM Delhi Office; managing all space and IT needs; evaluates and modifies operations to ensure compliance with University, sponsored research, Harvard Global, and grantor policies.
Human Resources and Staff Management In collaboration with FAS HR and Asia Center Director of Administration, manages HR function for all staff, interns, research affiliates, and visiting fellows. Directly supervises all Cambridge staff members. Responsibilities include position classification, recruitment, compensation, training, performance management, staff relations, development, and payroll. In collaboration with the Executive Director, works to build a cohesive team of engaged staff and create a positive workplace environment.
Budget: Assist with programmatic budgeting process; develop and oversee implementation of programmatic expense tracking system; allocate resources from one budget area to another with limited review to most efficiently and effectively meet operational and strategic goals.
Program Management: Oversee program and project management for student programs, events, communication, Visiting Fellows Program, affiliates programs, GSA program, Arts program, and other projects as they arise. Ensure coordination amongst team members; resolve complex problems; ensure monitoring and evaluation protocols followed for accountability and continuous improvement. Advise and connect Harvard students with institutional partners in the region for internships, research and language study.

Bachelor's degree, with minimum five years program management experience
Experience with Adobe Suite and Microsoft Office.
Knowledge of South Asia through education, experience living or traveling in South Asia
Must have cultural and relational sensitivity
Supervisory experience preferred
Program management, including budgeting and financial experience, preferred.
Adobe InDesign and knowledge of WordPress preferred.
Masters Degree preferred.
Experience in an academic setting strongly preferred.
Customer service orientation with excellent organizational, logistical, and time management capabilities.
Ability to work independently with strong attention to detail and follow-through are essential, along with the ability to meet deadlines.
Must possess strong English and written communication skills.
Must enjoy working as part of a team and enjoy working in a fast paced environment.
Ability to work some nights and weekends required.
