The Assistant Director, Digital Media role coaches students on career management and job search skills to help students find suitable jobs and internships in digital media, advertising, marketing, arts, cultural and other related organizations.
Provide high quality career advising to undergraduate students and recent alumni seeking summer, term-time, and full-time employment in arts, media, business, marketing and other related fields. This includes providing one-one-one career advising sessions to undergraduates in various formats such as scheduled appointments, walk-ins, and electronic/virtual support and communication.
Maintain regular schedule of one-on-one advising appointments and provide additional advising hours during busiest times of the academic year.
Assist with the administration of large career events for audiences of 100+ students, including such signature events such as JAMfest, Make Your Mark and Humanities Career Day.
Track metrics for making progress against placement goals and review placement goals on a bi-monthly basis with internal team and external colleagues.
Partner with industry, regional, or functional student groups to assist in planning and delivering career-management related programming.
Oversees various high priority projects/programs and reports to senior level stakeholders on these projects.
Meets with recruiters on an occasional basis to discuss recruiting strategies and hiring needs.
Works with existing alumni and recruiting partners to create employment opportunities.
Analyzes markets and trends as they relate to job searches.
Expertise in counseling, program development, or a related area required.
Deep commitment to customer service and the ability to multitask, meet deadlines, and work successfully in a fast-paced environment required.
Experience developing and implementing a successful communication strategy for marketing programs, recruiting volunteers, and/or liaising with student groups required.
Demonstrated success in maintaining collaborative relationships with diverse constituencies required.
Knowledge of career development theory and strong coaching or counseling skills required.
Education, Experience or Certifications:
Bachelor's degree required.
Master's degree or a comparable advanced degree preferred.
Experience in digital media, or a related field preferred
Technical Knowledge or Skills:
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel required.
Demonstrated ability to master database programs and shared scheduling system and learn new technologies required.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:
Ability and willingness to work evenings, occasional additional weeknight and weekend days.
