Major Function: Responsible for the Departments of Communications, Publications, Public Information/Oral Health Literacy Programs, and Dental Education.
Major duties and Responsibilities:
Serve as Staff Liaison to the Council on Dental Education and Public information, Journal Editorial Board and the CE Advisory Committee.
Manage ODA Web site, social media, and e-communications.
Cultivate relationships on behalf of the ODA with the media; develop media kits and news releases.
Develop, coordinate, and implement ODA promotions and activities for all ODA oral health literacy public information programs.
Supervise staff and projects of the Special Projects Manager.
Design and direct ODA Journal production and advertising programs.
Design and produce all ODA publications to include, but not limited to: brochures, flyers, advertisements, posters, etc.
Design, produce and direct the production of the all ODA videos.
Develop and maintain relationships with current and potential advertisers, exhibitors, and sponsors.
Direct professional dental educational programs including distance learning programs, the periodic member needs assessment and program evaluation processes, and is responsible for maintaining program compliance with ADA CERP standards.
Attend ODA Board of Trustees and House of Delegates meetings.
Serve as part of the staff team to plan and execute the ODA Annual Meeting. To include, but not limited to: Oversee the design of all Annual Meeting publications to include the Registration Packet, Program, Overnight Newsletters, invitations, flyers, and any other publicity/publication, as directed. Write and distribute all press releases. Onsite photography and social media management. Manage all scientific sessions and hosts.
Serve as part of the staff team to plan and execute the Oklahoma Mission of Mercy (OkMOM). To include, but not limited to, oversight of media relations.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
The Association office is open Monday through Friday, 8:00 until 5:00. The individual in this position is expected to work the hours necessary to achieve the desired results. In some cases, this will include evenings and weekends.
Minimum Work and Education Requirements:
Bachelors degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism or similar REQUIRED. No exceptions will be considered.
Publications and design experience REQUIRED
Excellent written, electronic, and oral communication skills REQUIRED
Three years experience in communications / media relations / public relations REQUIRED
Staff supervision experience preferred
Association experience preferred
Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, strong organizational skills, and attention to detail imperative
