Engineering and Technical Expertise Director – Freeport, TX
Where the Chemistry Happens
As the Engineering and Technical Expertise Director, you will provide strategic leadership and establish a vision for the Freeport, TX based Business Units. This role provides managerial and technical leadership of the FT site-based Design Engineering, Medium Capital Projects, Contractor Management, Mechanical Services, QA/QC, Central Shop/Stores, and site technical learning and development. This Director will be a member of the Site Leadership Team and be responsible for: the safe and effective execution of sitewide medium capital projects, contract execution that provides sitewide benefits, maintenance expertise/programs, and detail discipline design engineering work while managing all stakeholder expectations. This includes support for the development and implementation of capital project, maintenance and asset reliability strategies consistent with requirements as defined by the site and region, as well as all appropriate related contracting strategies.

Leveraging your educational background in Engineering, as well as your Projects and/or Mechanical and/or Instrument/Electrical/Controls and/or Maintenance/Construction experience within a manufacturing environment, you will provide direction to Medium Capital Projects Manager, Contract Services Manager, Mechanical Services Manager, Mechanical/Civil/Piping Design Manager, Instrument/Electrical Design Manager, Stores, Central Shop and Learning & Development.
Tapping in to your broad-based knowledge and experience in technical areas for execution of all capital and maintenance related activities, you will provide FTN functional leadership for Capital Projects, Maintenance and Construction Contractor Management, driving standardized work processes and standards to ensure efficient and effective work execution and reliable production.
Utilizing your strong background in managing medium sized capital projects, maintenance/reliability, and construction contractor work force, you will support the development and implementation of all capital and maintenance/reliability strategies in alignment with targets established by Asset Management and Capital Planning; you will also work closely with the OD's/key stakeholders to pro-actively develop and deliver agreed project/work portfolio.
You will ensure the use of LEAN manufacturing tools to identify waste and drive continuous improvement.
You will ensure the sustainability of reliability processes, such as Bad Actors, Root Cause Failure Analysis, FMEA, etc, are being followed within the site while further driving CUI and Flange Integrity programs and tools to further improve asset reliability.
You will encourage active participation with internal and external networks to ensure maximum learning through replication of best practices.
