The Director of Business Continuity is responsible for the management of TCW's Business Continuity Plan. This includes continued development and implementation of the BCP framework, including Business Impact Analysis and Recovery Readiness. The role oversees a small team of staff and leads the effort in maintaining relationships with each business area in the firm to understand their requirements in the event of a business outage. The Director of Business Continuity will work with business partners to identify critical business functions, and to identify the systems that support those functions. The incumbent will oversee the development and delivery of firm wide BCP training and testing to ensure the continuity of critical business processes and employee safety. He or she will work closely with TCW's Information Technology team to research, and when appropriate, contract with external suppliers of back-up access and system redundancy, including appropriate fail-over/transfer procedures between Los Angeles and New York in a BC or DR event. Other responsibilities include attending meetings with current and prospective clients to address their questions on the BCP process and its implementation at TCW.
Oversee the Firm's Business Continuity Plan and Disaster Recovery Plan, including development and delivery of documentation, training, and testing.
Maintain a solid BCP framework that includes Business Impact Analysis and Recovery Readiness including training and risk assessment.
Provide guidance to Business Areas in completion of their Business Continuity assessments and solutions.
Supervise efforts of team members as they gather information on the functioning of each business area of the firm, document procedures, work with designated BCP Coordinators, and gather lessons learned from each testing period.
Partner with the IT team to determine business continuity requirements and develop appropriate IT disaster recovery plans for each business area in the firm.
Coordinate the needs of business units with the availability of off-site alternative work sites
Manage quarterly BCP testing and analyze testing results to identify areas for improvement and enhancement
Maintain readiness measures, metrics, reports, and crisis books and ensure updates are made timely.
Manage regulatory requirements and respond to client and prospective client requests (RFPs and RFIs) for information on TCW's Business Continuity Planning policy and efforts.
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, or related disciplines
Excellent verbal and written communication as well as analytical skills
10+ years of experience in the Financial Services industry, preferably some experience in Investment Management
5-7 years of experience in Business Continuity Planning, Disaster Recovery, or Crisis Management
Prior experience in policy development including experience in developing Standard Operating Procedures(SOPs)
Strong project management and prioritization skills
Demonstrated interpersonal skills; highly effective in building and maintaining solid internal and external relationships
Comprehensive knowledge of the portfolio management process and/or operational understanding of fixed income and equity securities
Prior supervisory or management experience
Master of Business Administration Degree
Project Management certification
Business Continuity industry professional certification
