The Senior Science Writer provides high-level guidance to Principal Investigator(s) and Gastroenterology Clinicians on scientific writing, including: grantsmanship, manuscripts, abstracts, and other forms of writing for disseminating scientific work, clinical case reports, and research findings of the group). The Senior Science Writer is responsible for developing high-quality proposals and communications, collaborating with all levels of faculty, researchers, and administrators to develop, edit, and complete scientific communications (grants, manuscripts, protocols, reports, regulatory applications, abstracts, poster presentations, and other presentations). The emphasis of the position is primarily in writing/editing of scientific communications at advanced levels for dissemination. The Senior Science Writer is also responsible for preparing moderately complex clinical study documents and sections of regulatory submissions. The Senior Science Writer contributes scientific knowledge and analytical skills to the preparation of writing tasks.
Discuss new projects for scientific writing with Principal Investigator(s) and accordingly initiate writing drafts in collaboration with participants in the writing project.
Facilitates writing, editing, and preparation of high quality written scientific or clinical documents for publications, scientific manuscripts for peer review, write papers, protocols, and other scientific or administrative reports. This includes writing, editing, proofreading, and formatting documents.
Provides full life cycle editing and writing support for projects, including managing timelines and project
milestones, collecting figures, illustrations, and information from various sources, editing documents and coordinating with multiple stakeholders involved in the submission.
Works closely with the department research administration office, clinical research office, Sponsored Research and Funds Administration Office, and other Cedars-Sinai compliance offices to compile and submit grant applications in a timely manner.
Working closely with the principal investigator (PI), takes a lead role in project management and preparation of project proposals. Support includes: editorial support and standardized language for administrative sections, as well as managing the project management and scientific writing process, including team-building and
coordination; establishing workplans, timeline and deliverables; and draft preparation, review and revision.
Works with Principal Investigator(s) to develop, present, and bring to final submission high quality, large, multi- disciplinary, and multi-collaborative scientific writing projects
Prepares protocols (including amendments and informed consents), reports, and manuscripts for publication.
Edits and proofreads abstracts, posters, and presentations for style and content.
Follows established Cedars-Sinai and department policies, rules and regulations and ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local agencies.
