Department Administrator for Fashion Accessories Design and Interior Design
The College for Creative Studies is seeking a Department Administrator for its Fashion Accessories and Interior Design Departments. The position reports to the Chairs of Fashion Accessories and Interior Design within the Undergraduate Studies Division. The Department Administrator is responsible for assisting the Department Chairs, faculty, and students with a variety of administrative tasks. The position is full time during the 10-month school year and half time during the two-month summer break.
Position Accountabilities and Essential Functions
Serve as a liaison between the Department Chairs, faculty, students, and College administration;
Organize and maintain all administrative records pertaining to the departments, including budgetary information and student records;
Coordinate and monitor departmental purchasing of supplies and materials;
Assist the Chairs with course scheduling and room assignments;
Work with the Chairs to develop departmental monthly reports;
Assist the Chairs with the hiring of adjunct faculty and the timely and accurate processing of related forms;
Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise work study students;
Coordinate travel arrangements for Chairs, faculty, and students, as well as manage the related budgetary documentation;
Work with the Chairs to coordinate the maintenance of departmental digital visual archives;
Assist Chairs in various projects as they arise, including exhibits, special programs, scheduling special meetings, and other activities related to the departments;
Coordinate and manage student submissions for design competitions;
Coordinate visiting faculty and other VIP visits;
Take meeting minutes and create reports as required;
Any additional department-specific duties as required.
Qualifications and Experience
CCS is looking for a candidate that is energetic, enthusiastic, and proactive, someone who is self-motivated and capable of working in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will have:
Executive and/or administrative assistant experience in either business or academia;
Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills with an attention to detail;
Outstanding writing ability and editing skills;
Expertise in Microsoft Office software and proficiency in image management software, including Adobe Photoshop;
Experience with the creative industries, especially design;
At least an associate’s degree, with a bachelor’s degree preferred.

About Fashion Accessories Design and Interior Design
The Fashion Accessories Design program at CCS gives you head-to-toe preparation in the industry and helps you develop a broad set of skills in the key areas of vision, craft and business — how to conceive, make and merchandise handbags, small leather goods, footwear and accessories hardware. From the initial concept and design to the full range of fabrication techniques, supply-chain management and distribution, you’ll learn how to forecast trends, market your designs and manage a fashion brand.
CCS’s Interior Design program helps you develop a holistic approach to creating environments that function and respond effectively to the way people live their lives — at home, at work and as part of communities.
Accredited by the Council of Interior Design (CIDA), the Interior Design program is an intimate experience that emphasizes how to develop concepts and master creative thinking. You’ll work collaboratively, learning how to strengthen your aesthetic point of view while paying close attention to client needs and experiences. You’ll also develop the skills to integrate research and current trends with environment function, design and sustainability.
