Summary of Position
To aid with building and strengthening relationships with retail customers by providing excellent customer service aimed at year-around engagement. As a customer relationship specialist, serve as an important point of contact for retail customers by handling inbound and outbound calls, emails and other inquiries to resolve issues, determine customer needs and educate them about services and programs. Provide assistance to drive retail attendance and engagement with Sweets & Snacks Expo. Assist the Director and Vice President of Industry Relations to accomplish department objectives, vision, strategy and financial metrics, including database pulls, list management and analysis.
Retail engagement (65%)
Initiate and engage with retailer, wholesaler, distributor community to drive attendance at signature event to support event customer attendee goals
Handle incoming calls regarding Sweets & Snacks as well as other Industry Affairs inquiries.
Assist with vetting attendee applications for Sweets & Snacks and other events and collaborate with third-party attendee acquisition partners to ensure seamless registration to events.
Become an expert on the registration process, policies and procedures relative to the show.
Ensure customer service quality, efficiency and accuracy.
Build in-depth knowledge of the confectionery industry and the retail marketplace and its players.
Work with team and third parties to effectively manage current and accurate customer account data.
Help coordinate Industry Affairs/customer communications throughout the year.
Assist in the execution of a retailer penetration plan for Sweets & Snacks by aiding the Director and Vice President in building meaningful relationships with a specific set of accounts (determined by size, channel, specialty, etc).
Help activate outreach and prospecting programs for upcoming NCA events and activities.
Present a professional, confident and enthusiastic image to develop trusting relationships with all retail customers.
Marketing and administrative support (30%)
Work with marketing staff to understand parameters for list pulls and coordinate list creation with IT for direct mail, email and other campaigns.
Research other industry events relevant for the Industry Affairs team.
Collaborate with Industry Affairs and Membership Teams supporting key committee and council meetings and logistics.
Support NCA signature events such as Washington Forum and State of the Industry Conference.

Experience, Skills, and Education:
1-3 years of relevant work experience.
Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
Proficient in creative problem solving with the ability to learn quickly in a challenging environment.
Consumer Packaged Goods industry experience is a plus.
Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
Excellent project management skills with attention to detail and time management.
Ability to organize, prioritize, and accomplish multiple tasks with attention to detail.
Strong customer service and team orientation.
Experience in working with databases and large datasets is a plus.
Experience with Decisionpoint, Citrix, Informz, Google analytics and iMIS is a plus.
Bachelor’s degree with course work in business administration, computer science or other relevant course work.
Normal office environment requiring use of typical business equipment. Ability to travel to conventions and conferences.
