Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The Associate Director – Operations, a member of the Office of Transfer Services leadership team, serves as the subject matter expert on areas related to transfer credit evaluation, policies and procedures. This position provides leadership and supervision to the articulation unit by setting expectations, measuring and positively motivating job performance and regularly monitoring technology needs to ensure efficient business practices. The Associate Director will identify, implement and manage projects and provide expertise in data acquisition and reporting using Banner, Slate, Blackboard Analytics, Webfocus, Degree Works, IRAP and UNC System dashboards.
Administrative – Identify work priorities; scheduling work and projects, ensure that work is completed in a timely manner. - Recommend policies and establish procedures that improve the articulation of credit that support the student and the institutional mission. - Collaborate with leadership team to establish unit goals. - Coordinate with other offices to ensure that processes are effective and consistent. - Provide oversight and compliance for state initiatives that impact the transfer process (Comprehensive & Statewide Articulation Agreements) and/or the transfer of credit that require technical support, such as UNC Online, Reverse Transfer, etc. - Work closely with academic departments to manage the review process for external credit by exam and the consistent review of course equivalencies. -In coordinator with the Director, coordinate the implementation of statewide and local articulation agreements. -Stay abreast of campus and statewide transfer initiatives that relate to the transfer of credit.
Technical - Resolve functional problems with the Office of Admissions, Registrar Office, ITS, campus partners and the UNC System as needed. - Create transfer student profile reports of incoming transfer class. - Produce reports for campus community and community college partners related to transfer student demographics, retention and student success. - Research and make recommendations to support efficient business practices in all areas of OTS utilizing current and new technologies. - Research problems related to data and processes in Banner, Slate, Webfocus, Blackboard Analytics, Docuware/Fortis, TES. - Ensure accuracy of Banner catalogs (courses and institutions); including maintaining Banner jobs that reflect changes/updates on the catalogs.
Communication - Collaborate with OTS and Admissions staff to develop and provide oversight of the transfer communication plan for prospective, applicant, and admitted students. - Identify and implement strategies to inform campus community, community colleges and UNC System of pertinent transfer data and reports for strategic planning purposes. - Engage in regular communication with department chairs, General Education, Distance Education and advising units across campus to inform and evaluate policies and procedures related to the transfer of credit. - Provide up-to-date information regarding policies and/or procedural changes to the articulation of transfer credit to academic units across campus. - Work closely with Associate Director (Engagement & Retention) to ensure that the OTS website is current and relevant to all constituents.
Master's Degree 5 years of experience:
- Using technology such as Banner, Degree Works, Electronic Imaging (Fortis/Docuware), Slate, Webfocus and/or Blackboard Analytics - Ability to write and analyze reports - Demonstrated ability to identify and implement new technology that supports efficient business practices - Experience working with the public and applying diplomacy to resolve conflict - Evidence of strong leadership skills where personal and professional development are valued and team members are strong contributors in the decision-making process
