Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:
The College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM) at Iowa State University is accepting applications for a Program Assistant I for the department of Veterinary Diagnostic and Production Animal Medicine (VDPAM). This position is expected to provide support of the NIH funded Toxicology Mentoring and Skills Development Training Program.
This position will work under direct supervision of the program’s Primary Investigator (PI) to ensure timely accomplishments of all tasks related to the program. These responsibilities include recruitment of student participants through targeted mailing and social media; coordinating the application and interview processes of the program; scheduling meetings, conferences and workshops; and arranging travel and reimbursements for program participants. Other responsibilities include assisting the PI in monitoring subawards, and assist the PI in writing annual reports and new grants.
The successful candidate will be detail-oriented, possess the ability to summarize data for presentation and analysis, have good written and oral communications skills, and have the ability to work independently with limited supervision.
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree and related experience; OR a combination of education and/or related experience totaling more than 4 years unless otherwise specified under supplemental required education and experience. Experience must be at a comparable level and directly related to the duties of this position.
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Degree in toxicological sciences, veterinary medicine, public health, or related area - Additional years of experience with Microsoft Office software, specifically Word and Excel - Experience with program assistance
