Opportunity for an Assistant Professor (tenure-track) in Sculpture and Expanded Media, School of Art, Kent State University.
Examples of Duties:
Duties/essential functions may include, but not be limited to, the following:
Teach courses in sculpture, time arts, and site and context, with the ability to teach in a secondary area; mentor and supervise graduate students and teaching assistants in the area of sculpture and expanded media; contribute to leadership and direction for the area; maintain an active program of creative / scholarly activity as an artist; perform appropriate university, community, and professional service.
MFA degree in Sculpture and Expanded Media or related field at time of application with required two-year collegiate-level teaching experience, preferably at both undergraduate and graduate levels. Our ideal candidate will demonstrate a deep commitment, understanding and literacy of the field of Sculpture and its expanded field. Candidates must be able to demonstrate knowledge of historical and contemporary issues in time-based practices; video, sound, performance art, installation and hybrid forms. He/she will be comfortable working and thinking across disciplines in the School of Art and within the College of the Arts, have interests that extend beyond his or her specialty, and encompass broad approaches to art and critical engagement. We are looking for candidates with the ability to situate Sculpture/Expanded Media within historical, cultural, and interdisciplinary frameworks. In the School of Art, we have a relatively new ArtTech Studio that houses digital fabrication equipment; being able to teach these new tools to our students is essential as we move forward as an art school in the 21st century.

Working Conditions / Physical Requirements:
Light work-Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently to move objects. Incumbent must be able to communicate with others. Incumbent may be required to travel from building to building frequently and off campus occasionally.
