Working closely with marketing, communications, and creative services staff, the incumbent is responsible for content creation, editing, and project management for UMBC Magazine print and digital content. Specific duties include: pitching and writing features on subjects including alumni, campus life, athletics, impact of philanthropy, etc.; coordinating and writing Class Notes; working with Alumni Relations and Development teams on story development; line editing, fact-checking, and database look-up for all stories; oversight of student interns; upkeep of news/magazine websites; assisting with upkeep of style guide and branding toolkits; and performing other duties as assigned.
Required Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in communications or a related field required. Excellent writing, editing, research, speaking, and interpersonal skills required.
Two years of journalism or communications-related experience.
Current knowledge of print and web styles
Experience with WordPress and Photoshop strongly preferred
Experience with higher education a plus.
