The Research Assistant worksclosely with investigators, researchers, and students to assist and collaboratewith projects using biorepository specimens and digital imaging techniques.This position assists with digitizing and maintain inventory in the PathologyTissue Services Core. This position maintains inventory, handles a FFPETRepository, and participates in various activities related to a TranslationalResearch Laboratory.
Assists with the management and oversight of Biorepository samples and acquisition.
Assists with the maintenance and inventory of blocks and slides. Records and maintains database of blocks and de-identified patient data records.
Procures slides and blocks from the biorepository and file them back as needed.
Assists with digitizing and evaluating slides and blocks before sending to vendors to ensure accuracy of order details.
Handles invoicing and billing of tissue and slide requests for internal and external customers.
Assists with scanning and preparing Whole Slide Imaging requests.
Provides oversight of fulfillment of requests and inventory records.
Assists with managing core processing for faculty, researchers, external customers and potential customers.
Assists with multiple activities related to Translation Research Laboratory. Facilitates improving the laboratory and surrounding physical environment; including managing maintenance request and participating in physical space improvements and renovations.
Maintains inventory of laboratory supplies and consumables.
Works closely with molecular technicians to maintain workflows and supports specimen processing.
Performs other duties as assigned. Duties may include the recommendation and analyzation of processes and procedures to ensure improvements and efficiencies.
