In collaboration with faculty, school staff, and internal teams, the instructional technologist is responsible for the design, and collaborative development of learning experience efforts (e.g., course redesign) and other responsibilities (including training and consultations) to support the University's technology-enhanced education initiatives. Key responsibilities include: • Working closely with individual faculty members, schools, and academic departments across NYU as well as internal teams to conceptualize, scope, plan, design, develop, implement, and evaluate course materials • Applying a deep knowledge of pedagogical strategies and educational design principles in order to improve teaching and learning through collaborative projects, workshops, and training • Project manage course creation and related educational projects, including coordinating, scheduling, reviewing, and tracking efforts with team members to design and develop media and educational materials according to set milestones • Develop, implement and manage internal projects and specialized academic initiatives for staff and the faculty. • Develop, publish and manage content for faculty development and student support. • Support faculty in the use of teaching and learning technologies available at NYU • Assess tools to address faculty member's instructional goals
Required Education: Bachelor's degree and at least 3-5 years of professional work experience or the equivalent education and years of work experience.
Preferred Education: Master's degree or higher in educational design, educational media or educational technology
Required Experience: 3 years of professional experience designing and developing technology-enhanced learning experiences. Experience presenting, discussing and applying educational theory into practice; working with faculty and students as well as other IT professionals.
Preferred Experience: • University-level teaching experience • Experience in an educational designer role • Experience at a higher education institution
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: • Ability to apply a deep knowledge of pedagogical strategies and educational design principles in order to improve teaching and learning • Ability to work closely with individual faculty members, schools, and academic departments across NYU as well as internal teams to conceptualize, scope, plan, design, develop, and deliver, and support technology-enhanced educational efforts (including course design/redesign) • Demonstrated effectiveness to manage projects, including setting milestones, coordinating, scheduling, reviewing, and trafficking efforts to design and develop educational materials • Knowledge of the use of course or learning management systems. • Ability to assess tools to address faculty member's instructional goals • Ability to support faculty in the use of the University's LMS as well as other technologies available at NYU • Competence working with Apple Mac and iOS, MS Windows, and Android • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively • Excellent written and oral communication skills • Excellent interpersonal and team building skills • Knowledge of digital accessibility best practices
