The University Library seeks an experienced professional who knows how to apply theory and put it into practice with in-depth understanding of the professional field. The incumbent will independently perform the full range of responsibilities within the function; possess broad job knowledge; and analyze problems and issues of diverse scope to recommend and determine solutions.
Under the direction of the Library Planning & Budget Manager, the incumbent uses skills as a seasoned, experienced professional with a full understanding of industry practices and organizational policies and procedures to support the Library's operating budget. The incumbent supports reconciliation of the Library's operating ledger, the accounting module of the Library Management System, and a variety of collections-related financial processes. The incumbent resolves a wide range of issues in imaginative as well as practical ways; works on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors; and demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. This position interacts with contacts that are both internal and external to the department.
Library Planning & Budget is part of the Planning & Resource Management (PRM) department at the University Library. PRM is the administrative arm of the University Library and exists to advance the Library's mission by providing an effective resource management infrastructure.
The UCSC Library, founded in 1965, is the largest research library between Stanford and Santa Barbara despite being one of the smallest general libraries in the University of California system. Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training
Thorough knowledge of finance policies, practices, and systems
Ability to independently gather required information to organize, and perform financial analysis assignments
Proven ability to effectively present information verbally and in writing in a clear and concise manner to a variety of stakeholders
Proven ability using spreadsheet and database software for complex financial analysis, fiscal management, and financial reports
