The Business Systems Analyst will evaluate departmental business processes and systems to identify gaps and design solutions by identifying and evaluating options. This position will serve as a liaison between the business units and project team to improve processes and impact productivity. The Business Systems Analyst will utilize broad IT knowledge and their knowledge of the business to design, model, execute, monitor and optimize IT solutions that address business needs. Working across business and technical organizations, identifies, develops and implements effective technology solutions that integrate with Ellucian Banner systems and reflect the functionality necessary to address business goals and objectives. The Business Systems Analyst will trace business requirements through to test plans and cases.
Minimum Experience / Education:
Bachelor Degree in Business Management, Management Information Systems, or a related field of study.
Preferred Education Skills and Experience:
Three to Five years demonstrating continuously increasing levels of business systems analysis responsibilities and accomplishments. Minimum 3 years experience in an IT Business Analyst role. Demonstrated experience conducting focus groups, eliciting requirements, process analysis, and gap analysis. Draws upon multiple and diverse sources for ideas and inspiration. Looks for opportunities to improve the status quo and encourages others to “think outside the box”.
Applies expertise to anticipate and address issues and challenges. Demonstrates interest and willingness to achieve goals and expectations. Appropriately involves stakeholders in decisions to keep the projects on time. Proactively seeks ways to overcome obstacles and barriers that may impede goal achievement.
Experience and good working knowledge of PL/SQL, Software Design, Software Documentation, Software Development Process and Software Requirements. Proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Project and Visio.
Demonstrates proven IT knowledge of business analysis process and functions. Demonstrates strong analytical and project management skills, including thorough understanding of how to interpret customer business needs, model business functions, and translate them into application and operational requirements. Experience decomposing, refining and documenting requirements using a variety of graphical and textual techniques to include use case scenarios and diagrams, functional requirements specifications, activity and process diagrams.
Solid planning and organizational skills; can manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines and respond to changing priorities. Works independently, often determining own work priorities. Able to execute one major and multiple small projects at a time and deliver high quality work. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Teamwork focused, collaborative work style.
