Plan, with guidance, and conduct needs analysis, task analysis, focus groups, competitive usability analyses, cognitive walkthroughs and other research.
Lead execution of experimental procedures, ensuring smooth progression of participants through progressive stages of a study and efficiently resolve issues inhibiting day-to-day operations of the study.
Manage projects, including deep understanding of all stakeholder needs, working with Project Management Office to develop and manage schedule and budget and ensure all deliverables are completed within these constraints, and guide project team in executing a vision that meets all stakeholder needs.
Lead knowledge elicitation sessions with subject matter experts.
Research literature related to specific XR projects or proposals, and integrate findings into conceptual design and refinement of XR solutions.
Assist in preparing technical and progress reports, summaries and quantitative analyses of assigned research projects.
Contribute to and/or lead the development of bid proposals.
Contribute to writing manuscripts for publication
Acquire an understanding of the evolving field of Human Factors, including critical topic areas (e.g., perceptual skills, decision making, situational awareness, neurophysiology, cognitive modeling, leadership, critical thinking, culture, emotion, trust, multimodal interaction, team performance, usability, etc.), methodologies, and tools, to support DI's XR Application Science framework
Translate user needs into use cases, conceptual designs, and detailed requirements specifications, working iteratively with UI/UX designers and software engineers to ensure that requirements are properly represented and appropriately reflect the conceptual design.
Masters or Ph.D in Human Factors, HCI, Industrial Engineering, Cognitive Psychology, Applied Psychology, or Experimental Psychology or related field
Minimum 2 years experience conducting in human factors research and development, cognitive task analysis, and gathering user-centered requirements from observational data
Strong knowledge of visual perception principles and demonstrable application ability
Requires strong experimental design, statistical analysis, and data visualization skills
Requires solid understanding of computational modeling techniques, psychophysical testing, and neuroimaging research with respect to human visual perception specifically, and multisensory perception in general
