Reporting directly to the Vice President of Athletics, the Senior Associate Athletics Director for External Relations is responsible for creating and implementing an effective, consistent and progressive approach to advancing the image and notoriety of USF Athletics within the Tampa Bay area, the state of Florida and the nation. Responsibilities include the direct supervision of Marketing, Communications, Video/Broadcasting, Ticket Operations and Merchandising. Provides cohesive management and coordination of these various activities to maximize recognition, event attendance and revenue streams. Determines and manages departmental budgets. Adheres to all NCAA, Conference, and institutional rules and regulations.
Manages the strategic direction, oversight, and coordination of external athletics department functions. Leads efforts for community outreach, fan engagement, and external operations initiatives. Works closely with Tampa Bay Entertainment Properties and serves as a liaison for external operations.
Develops, directs, evaluates and executes the external functions of the marketing operations for the USF Athletics Department. Initiates, manages, and directs marketing strategies to promote sales, create awareness, generate interest, maximize attendance, generate revenue, and enhance fan experience for the Athletics Department and all sports programs. Manages the multi-media and corporate sponsorship rights for the athletics department by facilitating the partnership between the athletics department and television stations. Evaluates, negotiates, and recommends contracts to maximize all aspects of revenue generation, customer service, marketing, advertising and fan engagement. Facilitates the athletic department retail merchandise operations contracts. Develops, monitors, and authorizes the operating budgets for marketing, sales, fan experience, spirit squads, community relations and responsible for meeting revenue generation goals.
Provides direction, management, and oversight of the communications area, including video, digital media, photography, and creative branding services for the Athletics Department. Formulates, implements, initiates, plans, and carries out policies and procedures concerning the Athletics Department public relations and sports information. Develops, monitors, and oversees the budget for the Athletics communications area.
Oversees the comprehensive ticketing operations of the USF Athletics Department. Develops, manages, and coordinates marketing and sales strategies to optimize ticket sales. Coordinates strategies and plans with Marketing, Information Technology, and ticket partner (Aspire Group) to ensure efficient and customer-friendly ticket ordering processes and platforms are in place.
Performs other related duties and/or projects as assigned.
This position requires a Bachelor's degree with a minimum of five years related exempt experience or a Master's degree with a minimum of three years of related exempt experience.
Advanced degree and 5 years of experience in a senior management role or comparable experience. Supervisory experience.
