Associate degree or sixty hours of college required. No experience required. Library experience would be helpful. A combination of education, experience, and training that would produce the required knowledge and abilities could be considered.
Nature & Purpose of Position/Usual Duties:
Primary Responsibilities include: . Works with the University Archivist to sort, organize and provide access to collections located in SHSU University Archives. Assists with sorting, organizing and digitizing documents and images in SHSU University Archives. Provides staffing support for SHSU University Archives as the assistant to the University Archivist. Provides back-up to the University Archivist in patron services and instruction in absence of library associate. Position involves detailed preservation, processing and description of archival materials and general interaction with the researching public.

Primary Responsibilities include: . Works with the University Archivist to sort, organize and provide access to collections located in SHSU University Archives. . Works with students, faculty, staff and other library patrons in locating and interpreting library resources in the University Archives. . Enforces the policies and procedures of University Archives. . Organizes and arranges archival material in alphabetical, chronological or Library of Congress order. . Performs routine preservation of materials under supervision of the University Archivist. . Organizes and labels folders and boxes according to appropriate archival protocol. . Creates inventory lists and finding aids of archival materials according to archival best practices and metadata standards and uploads these finds aids to appropriate program. . Assists with ongoing digitization projects. . Creates and uploads digital objects in ContentDM (Digital Management Collection Software). . Describes digital collections using metadata standards. . Assists in planning and installing exhibits. . Supervises students assistant(s) in the absence of the University Archivist. . Other duties as assigned.
