The Carlson College of Veterinary Medicine is seeking a Director of Information Technology. This is a full-time (1.0 FTE), 12-month, fixed term professional faculty position. Reappointment is at the discretion of the Dean.
The College of Veterinary Medicine at Oregon State University is a high caliber veterinary medical school providing professional education towards DVM, MS, and PhD degrees; world-class biomedical and clinical research; and tertiary level clinical practice. The college operates a Large and Small Animal Teaching Hospital and the Oregon Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory that service clinical cases from around the world. The College operates within a total budget (from all sources) of approximating $25 million annually, supporting educational programs, veterinary medical and diagnostic public services, and research programs with broad impacts related to animal and human health. The College employs approximately 215 faculty and staff, plus student workers, and instructs approximately 290 veterinary students.
The IT Director is a member of the College's leadership team, partnering with other college leaders to help make broad-level decisions concerning the College's mission, vision, values, objectives, and policies. The IT Director provides overall leadership, supervision, evaluation, monitoring, and provisioning of IT services, information management, information privacy and security for the College. They have a passion for working with people and technology to drive innovation. This position translates information among groups and identifies risks, while creating opportunities for engagement and partnership. This position will assist College units in determining and supporting technology that advances instruction, research, new ideas, efficiencies, and enhanced programs and services for students and employees. This position maintains a close partnership with OSU Information Services (central IT) and serves as the College's primary technology liaison within OSU's IT community.
Typically requires Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Education, or related field. 3 years experience in management responsibilities in information technology related field.
Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, business administration or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Five years of experience in Information Technology.
Demonstrated experience leading an IT team in providing excellent customer service and support to end users and customers.
Experience in a supervisory role working in a team-based environment.
Strong oral and written communication skills; excellent interpersonal skills, including ability to communicate technical information to a non-technical audience.
Independent problem-solving, self-direction, and ability to manage multiple tasks, including experience in project management.
Demonstrated understanding of cultural responsiveness, diversity, social justice and/or support for traditionally marginalized populations which may or may not be related to IT.
Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures.
Experience in general financial accounting procedures.Flexible and creative problem solving skills.
This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per OSU Standard 576-055-0000 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.
