Under general direction,responsible for all aspects of the analytics to inform the development of thedata models for the next generation Enterprise Data Warehouse, and to ensurethat the solutions developed meet Vanderbilt University Medical Center end user/ customer needs. Gathers and integrates appropriate data, conducts analyses,chooses appropriate output, and communicates findings effectively with both theproject team, and the project sponsors and external customers. Ensuresadherence to the highest of quality standards and maintains projectdocumentation. The candidate will work in in a fast-paced, results orientedenvironment, and must have excellent communication, analytical and businessintelligence solutions development skills.
Key Functions andExpected Performances:
Demonstrates ability to define and interpret business requirements in collaboration with the product manager for complex analysis and data integration projects.
Aggregate data from different sources and perform analysis as per business requirements.
Able to identify potential problems through advanced analysis techniques and develop appropriate test cases to assure effective testing of the application.
Form hypotheses, then analyze data to independently test the ideas
Work with data architects to translate requirements into technical specifications and assist in data and output validation
Communicate the analytical results to team members and suggest implications and potential next steps
Maintain comprehensive documentation of business processes, analytics design, measure definitions, data integration and usability to assist with the development of enterprise level data concepts and metadata.
Work closely with other members of the EDW and IT teams, as well as business stakeholders, to understand the relation between data elements and business processes.
Demonstrates good understanding of functional business processes, and ways in which data structure and quality can support such processes.
Data Analysis andQuality Assurance
Can design a logical data model or object model of simple to moderate complexity, and to interpret data models designed by the data architect on the team.
Is able to document a data model in a data dictionary or repository.
Demonstrates good understanding of ETL processes and interpretation of structured data models.
Identifies redundant data objects and data items that can be re-used across applications. Identifies data transformation requirements, and can identify data gaps in data or object models and recommend appropriate changes.
Possesses sufficient knowledge, training, and experience to be capable of successfully designing a testing strategy per business requirements, and modeled UDMH solutions, without requiring support and instruction from others, so as to ensure that the outcomes of the model meet VUMC customer expectations.
Able to learn new / complex concepts quickly, and to effectively communicate about technical concepts with other stakeholders in the organization.
Work with several large and complex SQL databases and develop ad-hoc reports when necessary. Basic SQL knowledge is preferred.
Demonstrate good team building and leadership skills.
Ability to work with multiple subject areas simultaneously.
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, innovative environment
Assist in planning of the testing and validation processes, and analytic projects, and monitor performance against established plans
Passionate about hospitals and healthcare industry, and about solving problems with the use of appropriate data and information (Prior experience in hospitals or healthcare is strongly preferred but is not mandatory).
Extremely strong problem solving skills with the ability to break down a complex multi-factorial problem into discreet steps, determine the analytics needed to solve each step, then create outputs to help drive action.
Knowledge of and experience with Epic data and systems is preferred.
