The Client Relations Manager in Brownâ™s Office of University Communications (OUC) works at the center of the Universityâ™s central marketing, web and design teams to spearhead the delivery of strategic communication and marketing projects. The Client Relations Manager oversees a team of project managers and partners directly with campus units on marketing communication efforts that sustain and build the Universityâ™s global reputation.
Reporting to the Associate Vice President for Marketing and Communications, the Client Relations Manager assists with identifying client needs, developing project schedules, managing workflows, tracking tasks and project deliverables and generally stewarding projects through the development/production process. The Client Relations Manager leverages OUC project management systems and communication tools to facilitate this work, ensuring that all marketing projects are delivered efficiently and effectively and issues are handled with tact and diplomacy.
The Client Relations Manager will develop a comprehensive knowledge of Brown and communicate in a professional manner with University stakeholders, audiences and partners at all levels and across disciplines. The Client Relations Manager is an enthusiastic problem-solver who possesses an understanding of web and digital, video, photography and print projects, and has the ability to collaborate with an integrated team of more than 40 marketing and communications professionals.
The Client Relations Manager position upholds the standard of excellence for client relations, responsiveness and communication, and best practices in project management. As supervisor and mentor to a team of project managers, the Client Relations Manager conducts performance evaluations, sets individual and team goals, and supports the professional development of staff. The Client Relations Manager also maintains strong relationships across campus and with external vendors.
Bachelorâ™s degree required, 5 years relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience in a client relations/project management role
Excellent management skills, including the ability to inspire staff members
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Positive, customer service-oriented team player
Demonstrated ability and agility to master new concepts quickly
Proven proficiency in managing multiple projects with competing deadlines in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
Demonstrated proficiency with computer software such as Microsoft Office, Google Suite, Adobe Creative Suite and project management systems
Broad interest in and understanding of higher education issues
The Client Relations Manager leads the Client Relations function within the Office of University Communications and plays an integral role in cultivating relationships on and off campus and in setting the standard of excellence for customer service as it relates to marketing and communications work at Brown. The Client Relations Manager also plays a critical role in helping to integrate the workflows and processes of the entire staff within the Office of University Communications.
