Background: The primary responsibility of the Alexion Global Medical Information team is to respond to unsolicited requests for medical and clinical information about Alexion’s marketed products and products in development received from healthcare professionals, patients/consumers, and public/private payers.
Program Overview: The Alexion Global Medical Information Fellowship will give the fellow the opportunity to learn:
The core function of global medical information:
Respond to unsolicited requests for information
Staff medical booths at medical congresses
Perform literature searches
Develop standard and custom responses
Laws, regulations, regulatory guidances governing the medical information function
Drug development, particularly the development of biologics in the orphan drug/rare disease space
Laws, regulations, and regulatory guidances governing marketing and promotion
Role and functions of different field-based teams (sales representatives, medical science liaisons, medical affairs managers, etc.)
Compassionate use and clinical development
The Alexion Global Medical Information Fellowship will provide the fellow the opportunity to further develop communications skills (both verbal and written), to develop project management skills, to increase understanding of drug development, and to learn about the rare diseases and therapeutic areas in which Alexion is focused on developing treatments. The MCPHS Biopharmaceutical Industry fellows will be selected on a nationally competitive basis, with interviews at the American Society of Health Systems Pharmacists (ASHP) Midyear meeting.
Applicants must have a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an ACPE accredited college of pharmacy at the commencement of the program.
Candidates must have strong written and verbal communication skills and a strong interest in pursuing a career within the biopharmaceutical industry.
All candidates must have authorization to work in the United States throughout the duration of the one or two-year fellowship. No visa sponsorship will be provided.

Incomplete applications WILL NOT be reviewed. ASHP Clinical Midyear Meeting interviews CANNOT be scheduled until these materials have been submitted. Please keep in mind that this is a competitive process and applicants are encouraged to complete their applications as soon as possible.
After ASHP Midyear Clinical Meeting
The three letters of recommendation must be submitted by the three provided contacts no later than December 10th.
Top candidates will be invited for onsite interviews at the sponsoring company’s location. Final candidates will be required to go through additional screening/onboarding as required by MCPHS University.
Additional Salary Information: Fellows will receive a competitive stipend and benefit package, including comprehensive health insurance.

• Participate in professional development seminars with other fellows and residents from MCPHS-affiliated programs
