The Web Specialist Assistant position provides support to the Director of Web Services in the design, development, and implementation of content and pages for all of Mount Saint Mary's University affiliated websites.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist with training of faculty and staff web contributing editors; assist MSMU faculty and staff on managing web page content, procedures, and understanding policy and best practices.
Work with outside vendor technical and support personnel, Enrollment, Admissions, the MSMU Marketing areas, and IT to support Web Specialist in the management of MSMU Web content; and perform related projects as assigned.
Measure and evaluate website analytics
Train and assist student workers involved in MSMU web projects.
Attend Web Committee that consults on web related issues including design choices, navigation decisions, content position, site changes, etc.
Upload and update content on all MSMU web properties.
Design graphics and edit photographs for all MSMU related web properties as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Working knowledge with demonstrated abilities in the use of web and multimedia design tools, including multiple web browsers, search engines, HTML, web protocols, and authoring programs.
Solid artistic sense with a keen eye for color balance, space, and webpage layout.
Working knowledge of enterprise web content management systems and project management tools.
Proficiency with HTML, CSS, web editors, and graphic design tools such as Photoshop.
Knowledge of web architecture principles with an emphasis on design elements.
Concrete knowledge of website analytics tools
Experience in optimizing landing pages and user funnels
Abilities and Skills:
Commitment to user-centered approach to web-based services.
Ability to manage digital production workflow and manage multiple projects concurrently; to set and meet deadlines and be able to adapt to new and changing situations, priorities, and technologies.
Must be able to assist student workers as well as work with diverse groups of individuals, including students, staff and faculty.
Must have strong initiative and be able to function both independently and as a member of the web team.
Must be able to follow art direction with modifications based on instructions from the Director of Web Services.
Excellent communication skills (oral and written), interpersonal, organizational, and problem solving skills.
Bachelor's degree (art, graphic design, computer science, mass communications, marketing, digital media or a related field preferred).
One-year of experience in graphic design, content management, digital media or web development.
