This position is in the Office of Student Financial Assistance’s System Area. The Systems Area has responsibility for support of the student financial aid environment within the Student Information System, which includes development, security, testing, and production. The Office of Student Financial Assistance awards more than $500 million annually in student financial aid to Indiana University Bloomington students.
Designs, tests, modifies, and documents queries and reports in support of custom and vended software applications in the Office of Student Financial Assistance (OSFA) for the Bloomington Campus. Defines specifications; establishes data groups and tables; establishes, modifies, and documents electronic workflows/business process; and develops and maintains documentation. Contributes to decision support and workflow by interpreting enrollment goals and apply these decisions to the design, analysis and presentation of queries, reports and communication plans. Responds to a variety of requests for data from both internal and external customers relative to statistical analysis and information about student groups awarded financial aid.
Determines the feasibility of requests for data and assists clients in the definition of queries as well as security and access issues. Participates in specific financial aid processes such as managing over 500,000 electronic mail communications annually to students using Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software and managing timely paper mailings to students awarded federal, state, and/or institutional financial aid.
Acquires and maintains knowledge of the federal, state, and institutional student financial aid policies and practices and integrates that knowledge into the systems and programs relative to this position. Responsible for a variety of complex tasks related to the oversight of OSFA's processing operation, individual record information and dissemination, and the integration of these services with those provided within the Office of Enrollment Management.
REQUIRED: Bachelor's degree and one year of hands-on experience implementing complex electronic applications, databases, and/or electronic workflow.
Combinations of related education and experience may be considered.
Knowledge of query languages such as SQL and SQR; demonstrated abilities with technical, analytical, and problem-solving environments; and ability to provide guidance on federal, state, and IU policies regarding data retrieval, confidentiality and the release of data.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including a customer service orientation and ability to interact with a wide variety of individuals in complex environments. Strong organizational and multitasking skills including ability to handle multiple complex tasks simultaneously; and demonstrated ability to self-monitor quality control and accuracy
Specific experience with SQL, IUIE, IU Student Information Systems and Customer Relations software; previous experience working with a team and project management.
