Responsible for oversight and management of the technical assessment and evaluation, selection, implementation resourcing, and delivery of coordinated and harmonized information technologies per the governance principles, practices and policies of UTA leadership. The Director will oversee the OITPMO, which administers and manages the product evaluation process for health information technologies, identifies and promotes enterprise-centric solutions, leverages existing applications and resources, coalesces to single (best practice) solutions where multiple similar but competing approaches exist, and orchestrates the utilization of IT resources.
Project Management Development & Operations: Oversees the productivity and quality of the IT Project Management Office functions. Improves the overall quality of projects and processes. Implements project management best practices. Directs staff and assigns project managers and/or resources to projects and programs; coaches and mentors staff. Directs the development, implementation and maintenance of project management policies, standards, and procedures in compliance with university, system, state and federal regulations and standards. Implements formal project methodologies, portfolio dashboards and project health status toolsets. Governance & Strategic Support: Reports progress to leadership. Serves as project management resource for strategic projects. Facilitates efforts of IT leadership in long term strategic planning, budgeting, resource allocation and implementation of IT endeavors. Supports efforts to address IT compliance, audit and state reporting requirements. Communication & Coordination: Negotiates and coordinates with vendors regarding system evaluations, technical contracts and purchases, system integration and implementation. Analyzes business needs and collaborates with stakeholders, IT leadership and project staff to plan and address project expectations, issues and conflicts. Will supervise other employees & other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree in business, information systems, public administration, or related field. 10+ years of experience leading projects or the equivalent experience. Must possess extensive knowledge and expertise in the use of project management methodologies and tools, resource management practices and change management techniques.
Certification as a project management professional. Master’s degree in business, public administration, or other related field.
