Ohio University is looking for someone who loves software development, is results-driven and customer focused, with the desire to motivate others and lead by example to join the Office of Information Technology’s Software Engineering Team.
In this role, you’ll be responsible for the maintenance and development of enhancements to existing web applications used by students, faculty and staff at Ohio University. You will work on a team of software engineers to troubleshoot issues, program fixes and build new applications and integrations. You’ll have the opportunity to work with a variety of programming languages and frameworks while working on a team that has a solid culture around using good software development practices and tools.
To be successful in this position you’ll need to be an experienced software developer with 1-3 years of work experience in a programming related role, have a strong sense of customer service and self-motivated to continuously improve.
This position will work closely with stakeholders and OIT team members to develop and maintain moderate to complex applications. They perform analysis and design tasks for small projects in a single business area. A Software Engineer II may also lead maintenance efforts for existing systems. They also help mentor student developers and assist with the student developer hiring process. Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Leading integration development.
Developing moderate to complex application features.
Working with customers and project managers to review requirements and resolve conflicts and ambiguity.
Troubleshooting and identifying the root cause of complex problems.
Implementing bug fixes.
Leading development for small projects in a single business area.
Mentoring student developers.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or relevant field or equivalent combination of experience and education will be considered.
1 or more years of work experience in a software programming related role.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Demonstrated Experience with Object Oriented Programming Concepts.
Experience developing software within a Linux environment.
Experience with RESTful Services
Agile software development experience.
Experience with MuleSoft Anypoint Platform
Experience with Node.js
Experience with AngularJS or Angular
Experience with Java
Experience with SQL
Goal-oriented and driven attitude with a superior ability to execute and sustain a high sense of urgency.
