The Biorobotics Lab is a part of Carnegie Mellon's Robotics Institute that specializes in research and development of biological inspired robotic systems to address real world problems such as manufacturing, minimal invasive surgery, and disaster response. We recently began investigating food, recycling, and archeology.
We have multiple openings for hard-working, creative and collaborative people who will be joining our team of professors, scientists, staff and students to work on exciting and challenging research projects. Our dream is to design and build novel robotic systems that will fundamentally change the way bio-inspired and modular robots solve problems of national importance and expand our core understanding of fundamental science.
Your primary responsibilities will include:
Design and develop embedded system for real world robotic applications.
Survey literature and implement state of the art techniques to solve challenging problems
Perform other related technical support for the research and engineering team.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or other closely related field.
5+ years of relevant software development experience.
Strong problem solving and system prototyping skills.
Hand-on experience on embedded system design and development.
Strong Digital and/or analog circuitry design skills. (Altium/Eagle/etc).
Experience with mixed signal systems for robotic applications. (Sensor/Motor).
Strong system design, prototyping and testing skills.
Preferred Qualifications: (not all need apply)
MS/PhD in STEM or equivalent experience.
Experience with Advanced PCB design. (HDI, BGA, DDR layout)
Strong C/C++ skills.
Experience with mechanical and/or electrical CAD.
Experience with Arm ARM Cortex-A/M architecture.
Experience with FPGA and/or ARM+FPGA development.
